Poems for the Dark is a Nightbirde Foundation Exclusive by Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski as a compilation of poems written during her years battling breast cancer. With a special forward written by Simon Cowell, Jane walks us through both the darkness and the hope she found through her journey. I just came across Jane’s book and downloaded the Kindle version so I could start reading it right away. Jane is known for her heart throbbing quote, “You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy”.

You Are Not Your Pain really helped me when I started struggling with chronic pain. Did you know that sometimes depression and chronic pain are related? This book helped me learn about turning the volume down on the pain signals I was feeling, and the practice continues to help me every day.

The Chemistry of Calm– “This book focuses on ways to create innate health and resilience as a key to resolving anxiety in everyday life”
― Henry Emmons
This book has helped me with my everyday anxieties. I keep it on my bookshelf because it is a good one to refer back to when I need extra inspiration.

The Basics of Bioethics was the text we used in my genealogy class at University of South Florida called: Death and Dying. We learned about different moral and ethical concerns in the medical field, particularly with terminally patients. I mention this book in my blog post titled, What Happens When Someone Dies: Perspective from a Young Child. This book is an interesting read, and I kept it even after I graduated because I found it enjoyable.
